ABOUT McKINLAY ROSE
Design Is Personal.
McKinlay Rose Interiors was founded on the belief that exceptional interiors should never feel formulaic.
Led by Kristen McKinlay and Melanie Rose, our studio approaches each project with curiosity, creativity and a deep appreciation for the people who will ultimately live there.
We believe the most interesting homes evolve from a mix of influences – old and new, refined and unexpected, sophisticated and comfortable.
Rather than imposing a signature look, we develop a point of view specifically for each client and each property.
The common thread is not a particular style. It’s how we put it together.
Our Story
McKinlay Rose Interiors was founded by interior designers Kristen McKinlay and Melanie Rose, two visionary professionals with an unwavering passion for transforming ordinary spaces into extraordinary homes. With more than 25 years of combined expertise, Kristen and Melanie have built a distinguished reputation throughout Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota—while also serving clients in Miami, Winter Park, Atlanta, and coastal cities across the Southeast—for creating interiors that are as livable as they are breathtakingly beautiful.
What began as a shared enthusiasm for design has grown into a highly regarded full-service interior design firm dedicated to clients who value comfort, functionality and refined luxury. Each project—whether a chic St. Petersburg condo or a spectacular waterfront residence in Tampa—reflects our founders’ meticulous attention to detail, commitment to craftsmanship, and devotion to capturing every client’s unique vision.
THE TEAM
One Vision. One Team.
Creating an exceptional home requires far more than a great idea. Behind every McKinlay Rose project is a team coordinating design, project management, sourcing, purchasing, vendors, trades, deliveries, installation and styling.
Our collaborative approach allows us to maintain the design vision while managing the countless details required to execute it.
For our clients, that means fewer moving pieces to manage – and one experienced team looking after the whole.
Meet The Team
Kristen McKinlay
Owner/Designer
“Our Full Service Design firm follows a two-step process that creates a foundation for the final look. First, neutral tones are applied to main furnishings, walls and materials. As a native of Sarasota, I refer to that base color as “the beach.” This second phase, or “the sunset” selectively infuses bold accents of art, glass and custom fabrics into each setting. The end result exudes class, quality and color.”
Melanie Rose
Owner/Designer
“We listen very closely to our client’s wants and needs. Like an artist with a blank canvas that starts painting, you don’t know exactly where it’s going until you move it along. They know we can give them the look they love.”

Client Experience
Beautiful Design Should Feel Good Along the Way.
Our clients invite us into something deeply personal: their homes. We never take that trust lightly.
Communication, organization and thoughtful guidance are as important to us as the finished design.
Our goal is not simply for you to love your home. We want you to love how you got there.
